Some people are very anxious about flying, while others may become extremely fearful at the thought of flying and refuse to go anywhere near an airplane. Systematic desensitization is a behavioral technique in which a person is gradually exposed to an anxiety-provoking object, event, or place while simultaneously engaging in some form of relaxation to reduce anxiety symptoms.
