How is Parkinson's disease cured?
Parkinson's disease was first described by the British doctor James Parkinson in 1817, from which the disease is named after him. Parkinson's disease is characterized by tremors, stiffness, and reduced movement. Parkinson's is a chronic degenerative disease of some brain tissues (cortex, substantia nigra) leading to reduced dopamine production, causing disability in the elderly, second only to cerebrovascular diseases. The disease progresses and requires lifelong treatment, causing costs for families and society. However, if diagnosed and treated early and promptly, symptoms will be reduced and the progression of the disease will be slowed.
