Why eat candy or get tooth decay?
Eating candy causes tooth decay, which is an incorrect statement. The truth is that when children eat candy, the bacteria that normally live in their mouths begin to consume the candy and create acid as a by-product. This acid dissolves the enamel of the teeth, while the enamel of the baby teeth is much softer and thinner than the permanent teeth, resulting in tooth decay. Thus, it is the by-product of the bacteria when eating candy that damages the teeth and causes tooth decay.
