What are MUFAs and why should they be in the diet?
Monounsaturated fatty acids are the healthiest form of fat found in olive oil, nuts, and some animal foods. Diets rich in monounsaturated fatty acids can help with weight loss and reduce risk factors for heart disease, as long as they don’t add extra calories to the diet. Foods containing MUFAs, especially olive oil, may also help reduce the risk of cancer, inflammation, and insulin resistance.
