The skin is the organ that covers the entire outer layer of the body. It is the largest organ, accounting for about 15% of the body's weight. The skin consists of 70% water, 25% protein and 2% lipid. The skin cells consist of 3 layers: the epidermis, dermis, hypodermis and skin appendages.
