Latent autoimmune diabetes in adults is often confused with type 2 diabetes because it begins after age 25-30 and the initial symptoms resemble those of type 1 diabetes with the juvenile form of type 1 diabetes.

LADA (latent autoimmune diabetes in adults) is a disease with complications similar to type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Therefore, early diagnosis and testing for LADA diabetes play an important role in detecting and effectively treating the disease, reducing the risk of complications.

Diabetes has always been classified into 4 groups including type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes and special diabetes. However, this classification is no longer appropriate when some clinical cases of diabetes are characterized by intertwined pathogenesis as well as clinical manifestations.
