Uterine rupture is a rare but dangerous obstetric complication that causes the mother’s uterus to tear, allowing the fetus to fall into the abdominal cavity. The result is severe bleeding for the mother and the baby may suffocate. This condition mostly occurs in women with uterine surgery scars from a previous cesarean section or scars from other types of uterine surgery.
