Flotral is used to treat symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia. The drug is mainly used to control symptoms, not to shrink the gland, because the drug has the effect of relaxing smooth muscle, limiting the spasm of smooth muscle in the ureter and bladder, causing obstruction to the urinary tract.
