Choking occurs when a foreign object gets stuck in the throat or windpipe, blocking the flow of air. In adults, the culprit may be a piece of food. Young children often swallow small objects. Because choking cuts off oxygen to the brain, first aid should be given as quickly as possible.

We all hope we will never be in a situation where we have to save a child's life, but the reality is that at any time we may encounter a child whose life is in danger.

Foreign body airway is when there are abnormal substances (water, food, objects, ...) entering the airway. Suffocation is when a foreign body blocks the airway and a person cannot breathe because something is blocking the airway.
