Dichlorphenamide is used to treat an inherited disease that causes attacks of muscle weakness or loss of muscle movement. Dichlorphenamide belongs to a class of drugs called carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. Researchers have yet to determine how they work, but it may reduce the number of attacks that cause muscle weakness.
