Childhood nephroblastoma, or Wilms tumor, is a rare type of kidney cancer that occurs primarily in children between the ages of 3 and 4. Wilms tumor usually affects only one kidney, but rarely both kidneys at the same time. Advances in the diagnosis and treatment of Wilms tumor have improved over the years, so most children with Wilms tumor do well.
