Causes of cholestasis in children and infants
Neonatal cholestasis is generally defined as conjugated hyperbilirubinemia occurring in the neonatal period or shortly thereafter (ie, within the first three months of life). Cholestasis is a condition of decreased bile formation and/or excretion, which can be caused by a number of disorders, most commonly atresia of the biliary tree.
