Intra-abdominal adhesion is the phenomenon of sticking the intestines to the abdominal wall, sticking to the viscera due to the formation of scar tissue, thereby causing adhesions. Adhesions can occur within the intestines or uterus, between the surfaces of the viscera and the peritoneum. Intestinal adhesions can leave many dangerous complications by blocking the passage of food, clogging blood vessels, causing abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, urinary retention, menstrual disorders, infertility and intestinal necrosis.
