Bleeding after a tonsillectomy is not uncommon and can be persistent. Most of the time it is very light bleeding and you may only notice a little blood on your tongue. However, if you are bleeding heavily or if you are spitting, coughing up blood or if the bleeding does not stop, see your doctor immediately.
