Idarubicin is used in combination for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia in adults and acute lymphoblastic leukemia in children or advanced breast cancer. The drug belongs to the anthracycline group of anti-cancer drugs, effective in the treatment of cancers of the hematopoietic system and solid organ cancers.
