1. What is Berocca?
Berocca is an effervescent tablet product with 3 flavors (orange, berry and mango) containing the following ingredients:
- Vitamin B1 (thiamine) 15mg;
- Vitamin B2 (riboflavine) 15mg;
- Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) 10mg;
- Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) 0.01mg;
- Vitamin B3 (nicotinamide) 50mg;
- Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) 23mg;
- Vitamin B8 (biotin) 0.15mg;
- Vitamin B9 (folic acid) 0.4mg;
- Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) 500mg;
- Calcium 100mg;
- Magnesium 100mg;
- Zinc 10mg;
- Excipients just enough.
2. What is the effect of Berocca?
Berocca contains many vitamins and minerals, so what does Berocca treat? This supplement is indicated for the prevention and supplementation of people at risk of vitamin B, C, calcium and magnesium deficiency caused by physiological stress, fatigue, irritability, insomnia...
However, Berocca is not used in the treatment of vitamin B12 deficiency caused by atrophic gastritis, small intestine or pancreatic disease, gastrointestinal absorption disorders and intrinsic factor deficiencies.
3. Dosage and how to use Berocca
Dosage of Berocca
Dosage of Berocca:
- Adults and adolescents: One Berocca effervescent tablet per day.
- When using Berocca, do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
How to use Berocca:
- Berocca is prepared in the form of effervescent tablets for oral use. Dissolve the Berocca tablet in a glass of water about 200ml and use immediately.
- You can take Berocca at any time of the day, but for best results, take it early in the morning.
Note: Take about 4 hours apart from other medications except in special cases. Do not use Berocca for children under 12 years of age because there is no data on its effectiveness and safety in this age group.
4. What to do if you overdose or miss a dose of Berocca?
When used at the recommended dose, there is no evidence that Berocca causes overdose in users. However, it is necessary to take into account the amount of vitamins and minerals provided from other sources.
Some symptoms of Berocca overdose include:
- Confusion;
- Gastrointestinal disturbances, such as constipation, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.
If symptoms of overdose appear, you should stop taking the drug and consult your doctor to treat the clinical manifestations.
Acute or chronic overdose of Berocca can cause specific toxicity related to vitamin C, B6 or zinc. Specific clinical symptoms, detected on tests as well as consequences of overdose are very diverse, depending on the medical condition and sensitivity of each person.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose.
5. Side effects when using Berocca
Berocca can cause some of the following side effects:
- Gastrointestinal diseases: Berocca can cause some symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, stomach pain, constipation;
- Nervous system diseases: Dizziness, headache, tension, insomnia;
- Immune system diseases: Allergic reactions and anaphylactic shock may occur. Symptoms include skin rash, itching, hives, edema, cardiovascular and respiratory disorders;
- Kidney and urinary diseases: Urine is light yellow;

6. Precautions when using Berocca
You should not exceed the recommended dose of Berocca. Acute and chronic overdose may increase the risk of unwanted side effects.
Berocca is contraindicated in the following cases:
- Hypersensitivity to any ingredient in Berocca;
People with severe renal impairment (GFR < 30ml/min), including patients on dialysis; - Kidney stones or a history of kidney stones;
- Severe hypercalciuria or hypercalcemia;Hyperoxaluria, reduced renal function or glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency;
- Currently have Phenylketonuria.
Therefore, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Berocca if you are taking additional individual vitamins, multivitamins or any other medications; are on a restricted diet or are under medical treatment.
Vitamin C in the medicine can affect blood glucose testing equipment and kits, causing incorrect results. Therefore, you should inform your doctor or health care professional when using this medicine and the tests planned to be performed.
7. Berocca can interact with which drugs?
Some drugs that can interact with Berocca effervescent tablets when used together are:
- Cyclosporamine;
- Desferrioxamine;
- Disulfiram;
- Warfarin;
- Choramphenicol;
- Methotrexate, Levodopa;
- Potassium-sparing diuretics or thiazide diuretics;
- Tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics;
- Penicillamine and Eltrombopag;
- Biphosphonates;
- Methyldopa and Levothyroxine;
- Mycophenolate mofetil.
Alcohol and tobacco can also interact with certain drugs. Consult your doctor about taking Berocca with food, alcohol and tobacco.
Vitamin C can increase iron absorption, especially in patients with iron deficiency. In addition, oxalic acid and phytic acid can limit the absorption of calcium, magnesium and zinc. Therefore, you should take Berocca effervescent tablets 2 hours after consuming foods containing these acids.
Store Berocca in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25oC, away from direct sunlight and humidity. Close the lid tightly and keep out of reach of children.
