Should You Use Sperm for Beauty Care?

Nowadays, many beauty products from semen and seminal plasma (most commonly bovine semen) are being promoted for their benefits for skincare. However, there are no available products under the form of creams or solutions containing human semen on the market. So, is it worth considering sperm as a beauty treatment?

1. Is Fresh Sperm Effective for Beauty Care?

Semen is emitted during sexual intercourse when a man reaches orgasm. It contains sperm cells and plays a vital role in fertilization.

1.1 Rumors About the Benefits of Sperm for Skincare

According to many people, semen and seminal fluids also provide several skincare benefits. It is claimed that applying sperm topically (directly or using a face mask combined with other fruits) can result in significant skin improvement: smoother and more youthful. This is promoted as a natural beauty method, which can reduce side effects associated with chemical-based skincare products.
In reality, semen, which is emitted from a man's body after orgasm, contains a variety of beneficial minerals. Semen and seminal fluids themselves contain vitamin B12 and vitamin C, two common ingredients in skincare products that are known for their anti-aging properties. Moreover, semen also includes sugars, proteins, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, hormones, uric acid, lactic acid, and so on. These can give some advantages to the body. However, it is highly dependent on the quantity and the refinement process (to eliminate harmful components). In practice, there isn't any scientific evidence to use fresh sperm for beauty treatments.

1.2 Unpredictable risk

In fact, the process of sperm preservation after it leaves the body is crucial. Inside a woman's body, sperm can live for up to 5 days. Outside the body, sperm begins to die and lose its function after about 30 minutes. Once this happens, applying semen to the face will be ineffective and may even increase the risk of allergic reactions, especially for people with sensitive skin. To preserve semen, it must be stored with liquid nitrogen at -196°C.
Especially, you should be aware that using semen of unknown origin for face masks carries a high risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as syphilis, gonorrhea, hepatitis B, HIV/AIDS, etc. If you currently have open wounds or acne on your face, you should absolutely avoid applying semen, as the risk of infection is very high.
Another risk is that you may end up purchasing fake sperm that doesn't work as advertised. Concerning the use of the partner’s sperm, it would seem much safer, but doctors recommend not to pressure your husband to ejaculate outside to obtain semen because it may cause nerve inhibition in males and increase the chances of premature ejaculation.

2. Things to Keep in Mind When Choosing Sperm for Beauty Treatments

According to cosmetic experts, if you choose to use sperm for beauty treatments, you should be aware of the following issues to minimize health risks:

  • You should use products with a proof of origin, officially approved by relevant authorities, and with complete usage instructions.
  • If using fresh sperm directly, ensure that the man providing the sperm is completely healthy and free from diseases like HIV, hepatitis B, C, etc.

There is still no scientific evidence or clinical trials to confirm the effectiveness of using fresh sperm for beauty treatments. Therefore, women should avoid trying this method to prevent unpredictable risks.
