In the framework of the working visit to Vietnam, top-tier neurological experts from the University of Montreal, Canada, joined the doctors at Vinmec Central Park International Hospital in providing free examination and treatment consultation for complicated cases of epilepsy, movement disorders (Parkinson), and multiple sclerosis.
The top-tier experts and doctors participating in this program include Professor Nguyen Dang Khoa - Neurologist, Montreal University Health Center (CHUM), Professor Anne Lortie - Department of Pediatrics, Neurology Division , University of Montreal, Associate Professor Sylvain Chouinard - Department of Medicine, University of Montreal, Associate Professor Catherine Larochelle - Department of Neuroscience, University of Montreal, Dr. Tran Thi Phuoc Yen - Neurologist, Department of Internal Neurology, Vinmec Central Park International Hospital, Dr. Pham Hoang Bao Trang - Children's Hospital 2, Dr. Truong Van Tri - Head of Functional Neurosurgery Unit, and Dr. Le Hung - Neurologist at Vinmec Central Park International Hospital.
At the checkups, the doctors discussed the most suitable treatment for each patient. Among the examined patients, those with long-term diseases have received new treatment options suggested by experts, thus facilitating the elimination of their disease. A total of 37 patients with complex neurological diseases have been examined, including 4 patients with treatment-resistant epilepsy who are scheduled for surgery, thus bringing hope to these patients and their families.
Although the medical checkups were done within one day, the experts from the University of Montreal will continue to work with the medical workers at Vinmec Central Park International Hospital to monitor and treat patients via online channels. The medical examination program brings new hope and opportunities for advanced treatment methods to be widely applied in Vietnam, as well as improving the quality of life for people with neurological diseases.
