GE Healthcare and Vinmec sign comprehensive strategic partnership to improve healthcare standards in Vietnam

Hanoi, Vietnam – Dec 12, 2017 - GE Healthcare, the $18 billion healthcare business of General Electric, has just signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement with Vinmec Healthcare System to promote science and technology application, optimize infrastructure as well as improve healthcare capacity building tied to international best practices. Vinmec currently owns and operates seven hospitals in Vietnam and expects to increase its presence to 10 hospitals by 2020, including opening the Vinmec University of Health Sciences (VUHS). To that end, the partnership between Vinmec and GE Healthcare will play a role in growing Vietnam’s next generation of clinicians and establishing the teaching hospital as the standard for medical education in Vietnam.

In terms of technology, GE Healthcare is committed to continuously providing innovative medical equipment for imaging, nuclear medicine, ultrasound system and anesthesia solutions to help Vinmec promote and optimize healthcare outcomes.

The capacity building programs between the two parties will focus on cardiology and oncology, creating a solid foundation for Vinmec to lead in its key areas. Accordingly, GE Healthcare will play a significant role in nurturing a new generation of clinicians at VUHS, helping VUHS to become the standard for medical education in Vietnam.

Leveraging the insights of global experts from centers like Dubai and the USA in hospital design and planning, GE Healthcare will offer Vinmec innovative and customized solutions for layout design and facility arrangement, to promote operational optimization, patient safety and patient comfort according to international best practices. VUHS is expected to begin operations in 2019 and is the first hospital design partnership between GE Healthcare and Vinmec.
