Uses of Zuzafox 40

Esomeprazole is an active ingredient in the PPI group with the main effect of reducing gastric acid secretion. This active ingredient has many different trade names and among them is the drug Zuzafox 40. So what is Zuzafox 40 and how should it be used?

1. What is Zuzafox 40?

Zuzafox 40 has the main active ingredient Esomeprazole (in the form of Esomeprazole magnesium trihydrate) 40mg. The esomeprazole in Zuzafox 40 is an S-isomer of Omeprazole, which inhibits acid secretion by a specific mechanism of action in gastric parietal cells. Note that both the R and S isoforms of Omeprazole have similar pharmacodynamic effects.
Esomeprazole in Zuzafox 40 is a weakly alkaline substance that, when entering the acidic environment (secretory tubules of gastric parietal cells) will be concentrated and converted into an active form. The main effect of Zuzafox 40 is to inhibit the enzyme H+K+-ATPase (also known as proton pump) acid secretion under both basal and stimulated conditions.
Studies have shown that, after 5 days of oral administration of Esomeprazole at doses of 20mg and 40mg, gastric pH remained above 4 for an average of 13 and 17 hours per day, respectively, in patients with reflux. symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux. This effect of Esomeprazole is similar when administered intravenously.
When using Zuzafox 40, up to 78% of cases of reflux esophagitis were healed after 4 weeks of treatment and increased to 93% after 8 weeks of taking the drug. During treatment with Zuzafox 40, studies reported an increase in serum gastrin levels in response to a decrease in gastric acid secretion.

2. Uses of Zuzafox 40

The product Zuzafox 40 is indicated for the treatment of cases of gastroesophageal reflux disease causing esophagitis and/or severe reflux symptoms.
However, Zuzafox 40 products are contraindicated for use in the following subjects:
