2. Uses of Coducefa


Cefalexin is the main ingredient in Coducefa 250 and Coducefa 500. It is an antibiotic that is active against a wide range of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Coducefa's mechanism of action is inhibition of cell wall synthesis.
Coducefa is resistant to many strains of bacteria such as:
Enterobacter sp., P. morganii; P.vulgaris; Pseudomonas; Acinetobacter calcoaceticus; E. coli resistant to ampicillin; Staphylococcus aureus; Enterococcus. Cefalexin is an oral antibiotic, so it is completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Peak plasma concentrations of Coducefa range from 9 to 18 mcg/mL after 1 hour with a dose of Coducefa 250 and Coducefa 500 mg, respectively. Coducefa is eliminated in the urine unchanged for 6 hours.

4. Dosage - How to use Coducefa


To use Coducefa safely, you need to use it correctly, at the right dose according to the instructions and recommendations.
How to use Coducefa:
Coducefa is in the form of hard capsules, so it should be taken orally. Take Coducefa with filtered / boiled water to cool down about 1 hour before meals. Do not drink Coducefa with tea, wine, beer, ... because it can cause interactions, increase side effects. Dosage of Coducefa as recommended by the manufacturer is as follows:
Dosage of Coducefa for adults:
Dosage of Coducefa 500 mg x 3 times / day, every 6 hours or every day from 1 - 4g divided into small doses. For subjects with severe infections or infections with less sensitive bacteria, the dose can be adjusted up. Dosage of Coducefa for children:
For children, use Coducefa from 25-50mg/kg body weight/day 6 hours apart. In addition, the dose of Coducefa for children can be based on body weight. Specifically: For children 10kg, can use 62.5 - 125mg; For children 20kg can use 125 - Coducefa 250mg; For children 40kg, can use Coducefa 250 – Coducefa 500mg; In addition, for severe infections, the dose of Coducefa can be doubled.
In cases of pharyngitis, acute cystitis, the daily dose of Coducefa can be divided into 2 doses 12 hours apart. In case of otitis media, use dose from 75-100mg/kg body weight x 4 doses/day; For beta-hemolytic infections, the dose of Coducefa used to treat must be for at least 10 days. Note: Because Coducefa is eliminated by the kidneys, it is necessary to reduce the dose in patients with renal failure.

5. Contraindications to taking Coducefa


Do not use Coducefa in cases of hypersensitivity or allergy to Cephalosporin.
