Endometriosis is not a life-threatening disease but causes many difficulties in daily life as well as affects the fertility of women, this is a disease that many women encounter today.

1. What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue that lines the inside of the uterus grows outside the uterus and extends into the fallopian tubes and is usually found in the pelvis or abdomen. They can grow and invade other organs, such as fallopian tubes or ovaries. Like normal uterine tissue, these improperly grown tissues accumulate and shed with the woman's menstrual cycle. But over time, tissue grows outside the uterus, preventing blood from flowing out of the body, but instead building up, causing internal bleeding and infection or cysts.
Endometriosis usually involves the fallopian tubes, ovaries, intestines, or tissues in the pelvic floor. The surrounding endometriosis tissue can become irritated and cause pain, scar tissue and fluid-filled sacs can form, making it difficult for you to conceive.
The classification and staging of endometriosis is based on several factors, such as location, depth, size and amount of tissue.

3. Stages of endometriosis

There are different ways to diagnose endometriosis. According to the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, doctors determine the stage of endometriosis based on the spread of endometrial tissue, its depth, and the areas of the body affected. due to this abnormal development.
Based on the above factors, endometriosis is classified into 4 stages:
Stage 1: Small size and number of endometriosis masses. They can be found on other organs of your body, such as the pelvic area or abdomen. There is little or no scar tissue. Stage 2: The length and depth of implantation of the endometrium are longer than in stage 1. They are also deeper in the tissue and some scar tissue may be present. Stage 3: At this stage, the implantation depth of the endometrium becomes increasingly severe. You may also develop small cystic masses on one or both ovaries and thick bands of scar tissue called adhesions. Stage 4: This is the heaviest stage. Many implants are deep and adherently thick. There are also large cysts on one or both ovaries. Endometriosis doesn't always go from one stage to the next. If left untreated, the condition may stay the same over time. Or it could get worse or better.

4. Classification of endometriosis

Endometriosis is also defined by which part of the pelvis or abdomen it affects. Endometriosis is classified into 4 main types, including:
Endometrial stenosis: The peritoneum is a thin membrane lining your abdomen and pelvis. It also includes most of the organs in these compartments. In this type, endometrial tissue attaches to the peritoneum. This is the least serious condition. Endometriosis: These are cysts that contain old blood. They are also called chocolate cysts. They vary in size and can appear in different parts of a person's pelvis or abdomen, but are most common in the ovaries. Deep infiltrative endometriosis (DIE): In this type, endometrial tissue has invaded organs inside or outside the patient's pelvic cavity. This may include your ovaries, rectum, bladder, and intestines. This is rare, but sometimes a lot of scar tissue can link other organs. However, this only happens to 1%-5% of people with endometriosis.

Abdominal wall endometriosis: In some cases, endometrial tissue can grow on the abdominal wall. The cells can attach to the surgical incision. There is no way to prevent endometriosis. However, the patient should not be too worried about the disease because not all cases of endometriosis cause infertility. For the most part, endometriosis only brings pain to the patient during menstruation. When you see any signs of the disease, you should go to a reputable medical facility for timely diagnosis and treatment.
