What does the Cortisol test mean?
Cortisol is an antidepressant hormone secreted in the adrenal cortex. The concentration of cortisol in the body is highest in the morning and lowest at night. A cortisol test is used to assess the state of decreased or increased cortisol, thereby helping to diagnose Cushing's disease, Addison's disease or some diseases related to the adrenal cortex.
