Essential newborn care has been common in many countries for a long time and there are also specific regulations for care. Essential care methods for mothers and babies born by caesarean section often include: skin-to-skin contact, early breastfeeding and delayed cord clamping after birth. This is a combination of adult interventions, although simple, but gives many children a chance to live.

Skin-to-skin contact after birth is a measure recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). In Vietnam, since 2014, the Ministry of Health has also provided guidance on the implementation of skin-to-skin contact to bring positive effects to the health of mothers and babies after birth.

Skin-to-skin is a method in which a newborn is placed on the bare skin of the mother or father for 30 minutes to 1 hour immediately after birth. This is a scientific method and is considered good for both mother and baby.
