Autoimmune hemolytic anemia, also known as immune hemolytic anemia, is a rare disorder that occurs in red blood cells. The cause of the disease is the body producing antibodies that destroy red blood cells.

In autoimmune hemolytic anemia, the bone marrow does not produce enough red blood cells, or the red blood cells do not function properly. As a result, the body does not receive enough oxygen, causing the person to feel tired or short of breath.
