Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are abnormal high-flow blood vessels that have a connection between an artery and a vein. Some AVMs are asymptomatic and do not cause obvious signs. CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds are very important in diagnosing arteriovenous malformations.
