Antilirium contains physostigmine, a parasympathomimetic alkaloid with reversible cholinesterase inhibitory activity. Antilirium is therefore used to treat glaucoma and slow gastric emptying. However, the use of the drug needs to be very careful, because it can be unsafe in some cases.
