On Sep 8th 2018, the title of “Vietnam’s most improved hospital” was awarded to Vinmec Times City International Hospital, regarding to “Patient’s Safety Practice” aspect of “Improving Hand Hygiene Compliance” project. This award is a recognition of Asian Medical Community for Vinmec’s effort to ensure the safety in diagnosis, treatment and patient care. By honoring the project "Improving Hand Hygiene Compliance", the Asian Hospital Management Association has affirmed the significance and importance of infection prevention and control in hospitals.
Vinmec Times City International Hospital received the award at Closing Ceremony of HMA Conference on September 8, 2015.
Currently, hospital-acquired infection is still a challenge to every hospital in Vietnam and over the world. In Emergency and ICU, nosocomial infection is responsible for 35-45% of mortality. In Vietnam, the research on over 9.345 patients from 10 hospitals shows nosocomial infection and pneumonia rate at 5.8% and 55%, respectively. The patients who acquired hospital infection must be treated with new and expensive antibiotics.

Vinmec has been aware the importance of infection control and has taken it seriously since its operation, in which hand hygiene is the priority. Vinmec medical staffs’ compliance with hand sanitizing prior examination has been preventing patient from risks of infection, ensuring safe environment for their treatment and recovering. Furthermore, Vinmec not only equips standard isolation rooms which enforce precise isolation, particularly regarding to multidrug resistant bacteria, but also implements prevent incision infection measures and pre-surgical safety checklist... Especially, there are specialized officers who are in charge of infection surveillance.

“Improving Hand Hygiene Compliance” project is one of the patient safety practicing activities, which applying advance standards and international process in Vinmec, simultaneously enhancing professional quality. In 2015, Vinmec Times City excellently surpassed 1.160 rigorous standards of Joint Commission International (JCI) – global golden accreditation in appraisal of healthcare service quality, and became the first hospital in Vietnam to achieve this prestigious certificate.
With continuous efforts to improve the quality of services, especially, to promote operation and management mission in accordance with prime international standards, Vinmec Times City International Hospital achieved award at its first participation in the Asian Hospital Management Awards (HMA). After evaluations 322 registrations in HMA, the Council has awarded 48 titles to 92 hospitals from 15 countries.
