VINMEC CENTRAL PARK BECOMES THE FIRST INDEPENDENT HEART IMPLANTATION CENTER IN VIETNAM

On Dec 16 ^th 2017, Vinmec Central Park International Hospital (HCMC) has been accredited to be a TAVI solo center, the first TAVI solo center in Vietnam. TAVI is a complex procedure of p er cutaneous aortic valve implantation with the ability to diminish complication and suitable for elderly patients or patients who are not eligible for open surgery.

Also in this event, Prof. Dr. Vo Thanh Nhan - Director of Cardiology (Vinmec Central Park International Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City) was recognized as the first TAVI solo operator in Vietnam.

The organisation that accredited Vinmec Central Park is Medtronic - The world’s largest provider of medical equipment with a cutting edge in cardiovascular field. Currently, Medtronic is the exclusive organisation that accredit the title of TAVI Solo Center for units that master the technique of implantation of Evolut R valve, a product of Medtronic.

TAVI is one of the most complex procedure presently with outstanding advantage in diminishing complications, allowing the recuperation time to shorten to only 5-7 days.

In order to be recognized as TAVI Solo Center, all TAVI cases of Vinmec Central Park are performed under close supervision of world leading TAVI proctors. Since March 2017, the hospital has performed 31 TAVI cases, in which many patients are either very old or with severe concomitant illness. with a success rate of 100%,

Presenting at the accreditation ceremony, Prof. Ganesh Manoharan, Medtronic’s representative commented: “Under the supervision of leading expert on TAVI, Vinmec Central Park has met all the rigorous requirements of professional qualifications, modern facilities and equipments to become TAVI solo center as required by Medtronic. Especially, Vinmec Central Park accomplished this achievement in just 10 months, an unusual speed compared to other units over the world.

Speaking about the new achievement, Prof. Dr. Vo Thanh Nhan - Director of Cardiology (Vinmec Central Park International Hospital) - concurrently the first solo operator in Vietnam certified by Medtronic emphasized: “By becoming a TAVI Solo Center, Vinmec Central Park will have the opportunity to provide an effective treatment, increasing the quality of life for many cardiac patients.

Since its inception, Vinmec Central Park International Hospital has built and developed with a vision of becoming a leading cardiac center in Vietnam and the region. To implement this objective, Vinmec Central Park was equipped with the most advanced machinery such as: CT 640 (Toshiba), MRI 3 Tesla (Siemens), advanced endoscope deviced EVIS EXERA III (Olympus Japan), Hybrid operating room with international standard, advanced anesthesia system Avace.

In terms of personnel, hospital is constantly sending qualified staffs to train at major cardiac center around the world. Currently, Vinmec Central Park is one of the few medical facilities in Vietnam that owns independent cardiac intervention equally in terms of professional qualifications and experiences, providing superior quality treatment for patients.

Based on the standard of Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI), by acting as an independent TAVI intervention center is one of the five most important standard for evaluating the quality of cardiovascular treatment. By becoming the first independent TAVI intervention center in Vietnam, Vinmec has been named on the world cardiovascular “map”, laying a solid foundation for integrating into global cardiovascular interventions. The further objective of Vinmec Central Park is to become the best cardiovascular intervention center (The best cathlab) in accordance with the standard of Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI).
