The naproxen in Philcotam is used to reduce inflammation, pain, and stiffness, and works by blocking the enzyme that produces prostaglandins - a substance that plays an essential role in inflammation. Philcotam 250 is used in the following specific cases:

3.1. How to take and dosage Philcotam 250 Always use the medicine exactly as directed by your doctor, if you have any questions ask your doctor.
Take Philcotam during or after a meal.
Dosage and how often, how long to take the medicine will depend on: age, condition, severity of illness, response to the first dose, other medical conditions you have.
Recommended dose is recommended at the lowest level to minimize possible side effects.
In children over 5 years old, using Philcotam 250 to treat juvenile arthritis: 10mg per kilogram of body weight per day, divided into 2 doses 12 hours apart.
In adults, the dose for the condition is different between the following diseases:
Rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis use 2-4 Philcotam 250 tablets per day divided into 2 times 12 hours apart. Gout: Initially take 3 tablets as a single dose, then take 1 tablet every 8 hours until pain relief. Musculoskeletal disorders, dysmenorrhea: Start with 2 tablets of Philcotam as a single dose, then take 1 tablet every 6-8 hours if necessary. No more than 5 tablets per day (equivalent to 1250mg). In the elderly, a reduction in the dose of Philcotam should be considered to avoid adverse effects.
3.2. Notes before and during the use of Philcotam medicine Philcotam 250 should not be used in the following cases, tell your doctor if you are having or have ever:
Have any unusual or allergic reaction with this medicine or if you have ever had an asthma attack or severe allergic reaction after taking Aspirin or an NSAID; Severe liver failure; Severe renal failure with renal creatinine clearance less than 20ml/min; Heart failure; Peptic ulcer; Gastrointestinal bleeding; Pregnant women in the first and last 3 months of pregnancy; Breastfeeding. Certain drugs can cause interactions with Philcotam 250 resulting in a change in how it works or an increased risk of serious side effects:
Some products that may interact with this drug are: inhibitors ACE (such as Captopril,...), angiotensin II receptor blocker (such as Losartan,...), Cidofovir, Corticosteroid, Lithium, diuretic Furosemide, Methotrexate,...; Philcotam may increase the risk of bleeding when taken with other medicines that can also cause bleeding such as antiplatelet drugs (Clopidogrel), blood thinners such as Warfarin,...; Pain relievers/fever reducers (such as Aspirin, other NSAIDs or COX II inhibitors). These medicines are similar to Naproxen and may increase the risk of side effects if taken together. Do not drink alcohol while using Philcotam.
In case you miss a dose of Philcotam take it as soon as you remember, and skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not try to take a double dose to make up for it.
When using an overdose of Philcotam 250 mg, you may experience symptoms such as headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloody stools or stools like coffee grounds, diarrhea, dizziness, ringing in the ears, heartburn, confusion,... go to the nearest medical facility or see a doctor or pharmacist right away.
Store the medicine in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from light.

Philcotam oral tablet can cause drowsiness so do not drive, operate machinery or do other activities that require alertness until you know you can function normally. This medicine may also cause other side effects.
The more common side effects that occur with Philcotam 250 mg include:
Abdominal pain; Constipation ; Diarrhea; Heartburn; Nausea and vomiting; Dizzy. Mild side effects may go away in a few days or weeks. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if they get worse or don't go away.
If you experience any of the following serious side effects while using Philcotam, get medical help right away:
Chest tightness; Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; Weakness on part or one side of the body; Hard to say; Swelling of the face or throat; High Blood Pressure; Bleeding and ulcers in your stomach and intestines, with symptoms such as: abdominal pain, vomiting blood, blood in stools or black stools, asthma attacks in people with asthma, decreased red cell count fatigue, weakness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, unusual weight gain or swelling of the hands, feet, skin rash or blisters with fever.
