1. What is Rosenax?

Rosenax medicine contains the main active ingredient: risedronate sodium in the form of risedronate hemipentahydrate sodium 5mg and excipients just enough for 1 tablet. The drug is prepared for users in the form of film-coated tablets and packaged in boxes of 2 blisters x 10 tablets, boxes of 4 blisters x 14 tablets or boxes of 10 blisters x 14 tablets.

2. Uses of the drug Rosenax

Rosenax is indicated for the treatment of the following cases:
Used to treat and prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Treatment of osteoporosis in men. Treatment and prevention for patients with osteoporosis due to corticosteroids. Rosenax 5 is contraindicated in the following cases:
Patients with hypersensitivity to Sodium Risedronate or to any ingredient of the drug. People with hypocalcaemia. Patients with severe renal impairment, creatinine clearance <30ml/min. People with abnormal symptoms on the esophagus such as stricture or inability to dilate. The patient is unable to stand or sit for at least 30 minutes. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Children and adolescents. Pharmacodynamic properties:
Risedronate belongs to a group of non-steroid drugs called Bisphosphonates, used for the treatment of bone diseases. Risedronate acts directly on the skeleton making bones less likely to break. Hydroxyapatite in bone combines with risedronate and acts as an anti-osteoporotic agent. Pharmacokinetic properties:
Absorption: After oral administration, the drug is absorbed relatively quickly, the longest duration is about 1 hour and is independent of dose. The mean bioavailability with oral tablet administration was 0.63% and decreased when Sodium Risedronate was taken with food. Bioavailability in men and women is similar. Distribution: The volume of distribution is about 6.3 liters/kg. The amount of drug bound to plasma proteins is about 24%. Preclinical studies have shown that approximately 60% of the dose is distributed into the bones, crosses the placenta, and is distributed into the milk and fetal bones. Elimination: Within 24 hours, about half of the absorbed dose is excreted in the urine. Unabsorbed drug is excreted unchanged in the faeces.

3. Dosage and how to use Rosenax

How to use:
Users should take the drug on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before breakfast or at least 2 hours before other meals and at least 30 minutes before going to bed. Rosenax 5 tablets should be swallowed whole and should not be broken, swallowed or chewed. Take with a glass of plain water and keep an upright position for at least 30 minutes after taking it to make it easier for the medicine to reach the stomach. Calcium and vitamin D supplements such as dairy products should be added if dietary intake is inadequate. Dosage:
The recommended dose for people taking Rosenax is as follows:
Adults: Take 35mg on a certain day of the week. Treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women: 150mg for 2 consecutive days in each month. Elderly: No dose adjustment is necessary because bioavailability, distribution, and elimination in people > 60 years are similar to those in young adults. Patients with renal impairment: Patients with mild to moderate renal impairment do not require dose adjustment. The use of risedronate sodium is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment who have a creatinine clearance < 30 mL/min. Patients with hepatic impairment: Use the normal dose, no need to change. Children: The safety and effectiveness of the drug have not been proven in children under 18 years of age, so the drug should not be used for these subjects. Note: The above dosage is for reference only. Depending on the condition and the progress of the disease, the dosage will be different. Therefore, it is necessary to consult a doctor or medical professional for a suitable prescription.
How to handle a missed dose:
If you forget to take a dose of Rosenax 5, you can take it the next day when you remember, then still take 1 tablet per week on the indicated day. Do not take 2 tablets of 35mg in the same day because an overdose and harm to the user may occur. If you want to change the dose or duration of the drug, you should consult a doctor or a qualified pharmacist. Treatment of overdose:
Taking a severe overdose of Risonax 5 may lead to a decrease in serum calcium and phosphorus or signs of hypocalcemia in some patients. When symptoms appear, the patient should drink milk, antacids containing magnesium, calcium or aluminum to reduce drug absorption. In case of severe symptoms of overdose, the patient should be taken to a medical center, treated by gastric lavage to remove unabsorbed drug. Intravenous calcium can also be given to restore ionized calcium levels, alleviating the signs and symptoms of hypocalcaemia.

4. Rosenax drug interactions

Concomitant use of Risedronate with drugs containing multivalent cations such as calcium, magnesium, iron and aluminum may interfere with drug absorption. These drugs should be taken at a different time of day and not with Risedronate. Be careful when taking Risedronate with an estrogen supplement. Patients who regularly use Acetylsalicylic Acid or NSAIDs more than 3 days/week. The incidence of gastrointestinal adverse events in patients treated with Risedronate was similar to that of control (placebo) patients.

5. Rosenax side effects

In addition to the main effects of the drug, when using Rosenax 5 users may experience unwanted side effects. However, adverse events were mild to moderate in severity and did not usually require discontinuation of treatment.
Common symptoms:
Headache. Abdominal pain, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation. Pain in bones, muscles and joints. Uncommon symptoms:
Gastritis or esophagitis. Iritis. Hypocalcaemia, hypophosphataemia. Rare symptoms:
Angioedema, itchy rash. Glossitis, esophageal stricture. Leukopenia Liver enzyme disorders. During the use of the drug, patients must pay attention to follow the instructions for using the drug to minimize the risk of side effects. In addition, patients also need to stop taking the drug and notify the doctor immediately if new or worsening symptoms occur.

6. Some notes when using Rosenax

Concomitant use of food, beverages (except plain water) and pharmaceutical products containing multivalent cations with Rosenax 5 is not recommended, as it may interfere with the absorption of risedronate. Risedronate may cause upper gastrointestinal disorders manifesting as dysphagia, esophagitis, gastritis, esophageal ulcer or peptic ulcer. Therefore, caution should be exercised when using the drug in patients with a history of esophageal disorders, or in patients with problems with the functioning of the upper gastrointestinal tract. Before treatment with Risedronate, patients should be thoroughly treated for hypocalcaemia and disorders of bone and mineral metabolism. Supplemental calcium and vitamin D is important for all patients, especially those with Paget's disease who have significantly increased bone turnover. Before starting Risedronate for the treatment and prevention of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis, the sex steroid hormone status of both men and women should be determined and an appropriate choice should be made for the patient. Osteonecrosis of the jaw has also been reported in patients with osteoporosis taking bisphosphonates, including Risedronate. In patients with osteonecrosis of the jaw during Risedronate treatment, dental surgery may aggravate the condition. An increased risk of necrosis of the external ear canal has been reported in patients receiving bisphosphonates, mainly during prolonged therapy. Atypical femoral fractures have been reported with bisphosphonate therapy, mainly in patients receiving long-term treatment for osteoporosis. During treatment with Risedronate patients should report any thigh, hip or groin pain and any patient with such symptoms should be evaluated for a femoral fracture. Do not use this medicine for pregnant or nursing women. The basic information about Rosenax 5 in the above article is for reference only. Note, Rosenax 5 is a prescription drug, you need to use it as prescribed by your doctor, absolutely do not self-treat at home.
