Uses of Seridamine

Seridamine drugs have main ingredients including Betamethasone and Dexchlorpheniramine maleate, which are commonly used in the treatment of allergic rhinitis, pollen, dust, food allergies... more useful information about this line of drugs.

1. What is Seridamine?

Seridamine is made in the form of tablets, with the main ingredients Betamethasone 0.25 mg and Dexchlorpheniramine maleate 2 mg.
Betamethasone is a synthetic form of Corticosteroid and has a very strong Glucocorticoid effect, and at the same time has a negligible Mineralocorticoid effect. Due to the Glucocorticoid effect, Betamethasone has the main effects of anti-rheumatic, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic. In addition, due to low mineralocorticoid effect, Betamethasone in Seridamine is very suitable for the treatment of pathological cases where water retention is detrimental.
Dexchlorpheniramine maleate has a Propylamine structure, is an antihistamine active ingredient, mainly on Histamine H1 receptors in blood vessels and mucous membranes in the conjunctiva, nose, skin, bronchi and intestines. Dexchlorpheniramine maleate has the following properties: Antihistamine and inhibits adrenaline in the central nervous system should have sedative effect at normal doses. Peripheral side effects via anticholinergic mechanisms. Affects blood dynamics, e.g. may cause orthostatic hypotension through peripheral inhibition of adrenaline. Seridamine combines the anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects of corticosteroids, betamethasone, and the anti-histamine effects of Dexchlorpheniramine maleate. This combination allows the corticosteroid dose to be reduced while still achieving the same effect as when the higher doses of corticosteroids were used alone.

2. What is the effect of Seridamine?

Seridamine is indicated for the treatment of the following cases:
Severe allergies to food, pollen or dust. Support in the treatment of symptoms in severe asthma. Atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis. Chronic allergic rhinitis or seasonal allergic rhinitis. Allergic conjunctivitis. Urticaria grade. However, in the following cases, Seridamine is not allowed to be prescribed:
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of Seridamine. History of allergy to other drugs containing the active ingredient Betamethasone or Dexchlorpheniramine maleate. History of allergy or side effects when using corticosteroids or antihistamines. Systemic bacterial or fungal infection. Viral infections such as Herpes, Chickenpox, Shingles, Hepatitis. The patient was being treated with a Monoamine Oxidase (MAO) inhibitor for 14 days. Peptic ulcer - duodenal ulcer. Patient has uncontrolled psychosis. Diabetes. The patient is having an acute asthma attack. The patient has symptoms of an enlarged prostate. Bladder neck obstruction. Narrow angle glaucoma. Used in combination with antiarrhythmic drugs. Children < 6 years old, infants or premature babies. Pregnant women or nursing mothers.

3. Dosage and how to use Seridamin

Adults and children > 12 years old: Recommended dose: Take 1-2 tablets / time x 3-4 times / day. The drug should be taken after meals or at bedtime. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 8 tablets.
Children 6-12 years old: Recommended dose: Take 1 tablet x 2 times/day or 1/2 tablet x 3 times/day. The drug should be taken after meals or at bedtime. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 4 tablets.

4. Side effects encountered when using Seridamin

The use of Seridamine in high doses or for a long time, can cause side effects such as:
Common: Increased excretion of potassium, sodium and water retention, growth retardation in children, Cushing's syndrome, menstruation abnormality, impaired glucose tolerance, manifestation of latent diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, pathological fractures, muscle atrophy, muscle weakness, spina bifida, aseptic necrosis of femoral head... Less Common: Peptic ulcer, gastrointestinal perforation or bleeding, acute pancreatitis, insomnia, euphoria, agitation or severe depression, erythema, urticaria, edema, eczema, pruritus. Rare: Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bruises, acne, hirsutism, delayed scar healing, hemolytic anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia... Discontinue the drug when detecting the effects. side effects or other unusual symptoms after taking Seridamine, and promptly notify the treating doctor about the use of Seridamine or go to the nearest medical facility for timely treatment.

5. Note the use of Seridamine in the following subjects

Caution should be taken when using Seridamine in elderly patients, patients with impaired liver and kidney function, patients with a history of or are suffering from diseases such as recent myocardial infarction, hypertension, heart failure. Congestive heart failure, hypothyroidism, liver failure, diabetes mellitus, epilepsy, glaucoma, gastric and duodenal ulcer, psychosis, renal failure. Pregnancy: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classifies Betamethasone and Dexlorpheniramine maleate as Class B active ingredients, which do not pose a risk to pregnancy, but only in a few studies. Therefore, Seridamine should only be used in pregnant women when the benefits and risks to the mother and fetus have been considered. Lactation: Care should be taken when deciding to use Seridamine in this population. Drivers or machine operators often experience side effects such as somnolence, hallucinations, loss of concentration, dizziness, dizziness... after taking Seridamine. Therefore, avoid using Seridamine before and during work.

6. Seridamine drug interactions:

Some drugs can interact with Betamethasone ingredients:
Drugs such as Phenytoin, Primidon, Barbiturates, Carbamazepine, Rifampicin increase metabolism and reduce the therapeutic effect of Betamethasone. Drugs with the active substance Estrogen increase the excessive effects of Betamethasone. Betamethasone taken with diuretics such as thiazides or furosemide can cause excessive potassium loss. Betamethasone used with amphotericin B drugs, bronchodilators of the Xanthin class, beta 2 agonists increases the risk of hypokalemia. Drugs containing the active ingredient Betamethasone increase or decrease the effect of anticoagulants. The combined use of betamethasone and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) increases the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and ulceration. Betamethasone reduces blood levels of salicylates. Some drugs interact with the ingredient Dexlorpheniramine maleate:
Co-administration of drugs containing the active ingredient Dexlorpheniramine maleate with MAO inhibitors can cause severe hypotension. Dexchlorpheniramine maleate active ingredient enhances the sedative effect of CNS depressants such as barbiturates, hypnotics, anxiolytics, opioid analgesics, antipsychotics and alcohol. Above is necessary information about the ingredients, uses, dosage, usage and unwanted side effects of Seridamine. Patients and relatives should carefully read the instructions for use of Seridamin and strictly follow the instructions of the specialist doctor or pharmacist to achieve the best treatment effect.
