FAQ: How to avoid scarring after chickenpox?

Question
Hello doctor, I'm Dung, currently suffering from chickenpox. The acne marks on my face are shrinking, but I accidentally washed my face and dropped those atrophic acne, leaving the acne feet not dry, still wet. If I apply purple medicine, will I leave pitted scars on my face later? How to avoid scarring from chickenpox? Thank you.

Hello. From what you described, the peeling skin lesions are normal. You need good skin hygiene such as: Bathing with a solution of 5 parts per thousand diluted potassium permanganate, or Cetaphil shower gel and applying Milian medicine, will not scar after chickenpox.
If you let a skin infection at the site of the blister turn into pus, it will easily leave a scar. Thank you for your question to Vinmec Health System. Best regards!
