Esophageal septal disease is a very little known condition. People with esophageal septum often cannot eat large foods or solid foods, but mainly eat liquids and drink water. The inability to eat can put patients at increased risk of malnutrition as well as other diseases.

Esophageal webs are indentations of the esophageal wall that can partially narrow the lumen of the esophagus. Initially, the esophageal web is usually asymptomatic, but occasionally patients may experience intermittent dysphagia with solid foods.
