The number of cesarean sections has increased over the past two decades, especially in developed countries. As a result, anesthesia for cesarean sections has become an increasingly greater challenge, but this has provided obstetric anesthesiologists with the opportunity to contribute more. Although regional anesthesia has become a major advance, cesarean section anesthesia still plays an irreplaceable role in certain deliveries.
