Cushing's syndrome is an endocrine disorder caused by dysfunction of the adrenal cortex, causing chronic uncontrolled increase in glucocorticoid hormones. This is a fairly common endocrine disorder in clinical practice. In children, it is often called adrenal gonadal dysgenesis.
