Professor Timothy Craig, FAAAAI, FACAAI, FACP, FACOI, is a Tenured Professor of Medicine, Pediatrics and Biomedical Sciences, and Distinguished Educator at Pennsylvania State University (PSU). He is Director of the Allergy, Immunology, and Respiratory Clinical Research, Director of the PSU Alpha-1-Foundation Clinical Resource Center, and Director of the International Angioedema Resource Center (ACARE).
He graduated Valedictorian from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1984. His training included General Medicine at San Diego Naval Hospital (1984-5), Internal Medicine (1988-1990) at San Diego Naval Hospital, and Allergy Immunology at Walter Reed Army Hospital (1990-1992). He then practiced HIV Medicine at Charleston Naval Hospital University followed by Allergy Immunology at University of Iowa and finally at PSU.
Dr Craig has experience in basic research (Johns Hopkins University and University of Buffalo), clinical research (University of Iowa and Penn State University), large NHLBI research networks, medical education, post graduate training, leadership, continuing medical education and clinical operations (Penn State University).
Dr Craig has served as a leader in multiple organizations including Asthma Diagnosis and Treatment Interest Section Chair for the AAAAI, past president of the Pennsylvania Allergy Association, past Mid-Atlantic Governor for the RSL Allergy Associations, and past board member of the JCAAI, ACAAI and the American Lung Association Mid Atlantic. He finished his 4 years on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Allergy Asthma and Immunology in 2022. He is presently on the Medical Advisory Board for the HAE-A Association
Dr Craig is a successful clinical researcher and mentor, and has published over 350 manuscripts, delivered over 500 invited lectures and 450 abstracts, and serves on numerous editorial boards.
Dr Craig is a Vietnam Education Foundation Fellow. Dr Craig is also an honorary Board of Director Member for the Lam Dong Medical College, Dalat, Vietnam, and a Senior Advisor for the Allergy and Immunology Department for Vinmec, Hanoi, Vietnam.
He has received numerous awards recognizing his excellence in teaching and mentorship including Distinguished Educator, Dean’s Educator Award, Alpha Omega Alpha, Medicine Educator of the Year, and 2 Medical Student’s Teacher of the Year Awards. Despite his extensive career, Dr Craig is most proud of his success as a mentor for pre-medical students, foreign and American medical students, and post–graduate trainees including numerous Allergy Immunology Fellows.
