Associate Professor, PhD, MD Bui Duc Hau graduated from Hanoi Medical University in 1983 and began his career at the Department of Surgery, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital. Over the years, he was promoted to Deputy Head, and later Acting Head of the department, positions he held for many years with great dedication.

He completed his Specialist Level I and II degrees, as well as his Doctorate in Medicine at Hanoi Medical University in 2011, and was conferred the academic title of Associate Professor in 2015. Dr. Hau also spent time studying in several developed countries, focusing on medical education methods, pediatric research, and advanced pediatric training.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Assoc. Prof. Bui Duc Hau is highly regarded for his contributions to management, teaching, and scientific research. As Deputy Head of Surgery for many years, he and his colleagues successfully developed advanced surgical techniques, particularly in laparoscopic surgery, organ transplantation, and the separation of conjoined twins—achievements that have contributed significantly to the advancement of pediatric surgery in Vietnam.

Throughout his distinguished career, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hau has received numerous honors and awards, including the title of “Meritorious Physician” (2010), Prime Minister’s Certificates of Merit (2005 and 2013), Ministry of Health Certificates of Merit (2009, 2011, and 2013), Ministry-level Emulation Fighter titles (2011 and 2014), and the prestigious title of “People’s Physician” (2017)—a recognition of his lifelong commitment to healthcare, teaching, and medical innovation.
