Drinking ginger tea during pregnancy: benefits, safety, and instructions

Ginger tea is made by soaking fresh or dry ginger in hot water. Drinking ginger tea helps decrease nausea and vomiting. Is drinking ginger tea while pregnant really good and safe?

1. The benefits of drinking ginger when pregnant

  • 80% of women get nausea and vomiting in the first trimester of pregnancy, it is also called morning sickness.
  • Ginger root includes many components that may help decrease annoyance when pregnant. Specific two components: Gingerols and shogaols affect the receptors in the gastrointestinal systems and increase the speed of emptying the stomach, therefore reducing the feeling of nausea.
  • In fresh ginger, there is a lot of Gingerol while shogaols are in dried ginger. This means ginger tea has the benefit of avoiding nausea and is appropriate for treatment while having pregnancy.
